    Roberta Haught D.V.M.
    Veterinarian

Hello, Dr. Haught here! I am a co-owner and medical director/practicing veterinarian of Colegate Woods Veterinary Hospital. I am a native of Washington County. I grew up on a small farm in Lawrence Township. We raised beef cattle. My memories of my childhood on the farm include playing outside a lot.  I enjoyed the pets we had - dogs and cats. My parents gifted me with a horse and I enjoyed riding in the woods and the beauty of nature when it was time to take up the hay. I remember helping my grandmother prepare lunch for all those working in the hayfield. As they came in to eat, we offered sandwiches, fresh veggies from the garden, Texas sheet cake, and lemonade! When I began to drive, I was promoted to truck driver. Our hay fields were definitely a challenge to drive in as our farm was on top of a hill and no fields were flat.

I attended Frontier High School, graduating from there in 1986. I was a member of the volleyball and basketball teams. I also enjoyed being the piano accompanist for our choir under the direction of Bill Bigger. After high school graduation, I made the transition to city life for a few years. I attended The Ohio State University, majoring in Animal Science in the College of Agriculture. I completed the requirements for application to vet school in two years and was accepted into the College of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University. I was able to complete my undergraduate degree during my first year of vet school. I completed vet school in the spring of 1993. I returned to Washington County as an associate veterinarian at Green Meadow Veterinary Hospital under the mentorship of Dr. David Spindler.

Dr. Spindler taught me how to apply all that I had learned in vet school into everyday practice. He also taught me how to treat my clients and how to love this career in veterinary medicine. In 1999, my husband and I opened Collegiate Woods Veterinary Hospital. I have spent 25 of my 31 years (so far) calling Colegate Woods my home. I enjoy the variety of general practice. I have worked with many species over the years. Now I work mostly with dogs, cats, and the occasional horse, camelid, or goat. I enjoy all aspects of practice - preventative medicine, internal medicine, and surgery. I enjoy meeting the needs of our clients through our practice. I treasure all of our clients and their pets. In 2023, I was excited to introduce our associate - Dr. Rebekah Fleming.  She is my daughter and has always loved veterinary medicine. Now, I am honored to work alongside her. She is married to a wonderful man, Kyle. I am excited to watch them begin their life together in our community.

Brian and I also have a son, Daniel. He is finishing his first year of human general practice residency in Chillicothe, Ohio. He is married to Alaina, a delightful young woman. They have two young sons - Callum (born in 2020) and Owen (born in 2023). Outside of work, I love to spend time with my family. Brian and I enjoy hiking and discovering the fun of the beach through the eyes of our grandsons. Other hobbies I enjoy include reading, playing the piano, and coloring.”
